About Kane Cunningham

Kane Cunningham is a highly skilled artist who specialises in Northern Expressionism, a style that captures the essence of the ever-changing landscapes of the UK. Kane's work particularly focuses on how the Lake District in his watercolor paintings and how it has changed over the years. Hailing from Manchester, Kane's art is deeply rooted in his Northern heritage, and the Lake District holds a special place in Kane's heart, and this is where Kane finds the most inspiration for his beautiful artwork.

Kane's passion for art was ignited during his visits to Manchester's art galleries when he was a teenager. He was influenced by the works of L.S. Lowry and John Constable but was particularly moved by J.M.W. Turner's monumental skies, which heavily influenced Kane's work. Kane’s work straddles Western aesthetics influenced by Turner with the spatial awareness and sensibilities of Chinese watercolour painting drawing inspiration from artists such as Zhang Daqian.

Kane has been featured in numerous television programs, including Salvage Hunters, where he showcased his House Project, which was created around a house that was falling into the sea due to erosion. His work has been exhibited in many prestigious venues, and he has even had the pleasure of meeting David Hockney, who visited him personally at his exhibition at Sledmere House.
